Food trucks–they’re more popular now than ever before, with 233,873 active trucks in the United States alone as of 2020. The great thing about food trucks is that they work for virtually any event; it’s just a matter of booking one in advance. You certainly shouldn’t put booking your food truck off, and the more you know about the process, the easier it will be. With that in mind, let’s look into what you need to do to book a food truck for your event.

1. Budget

You probably have a set budget in place for your event, and part of that will involve food. Think of food truck catering in terms of price per guest. Typically, food trucks will cost $10 top $35 per guest. Additionally, they will usually have a minimum required. This is often between $800 and $1,300. With that being said, some of the pricing will also depend on whether your guests will pay for their own meals, or you cover the costs outright.

2. Know Your Food

There is a wide variety of food trucks available to book. But you need to make sure that you know exactly the types of food you want available for your guests. Ideally, you’ll want to book a food truck that can serve multiple dietary preferences. If a food truck offers vegetarian or vegan options, you’ll probably be safe.

3. Estimate How Many Trucks You Need

While one food truck can serve quite a few people, larger events may require multiple trucks. Usually, one food truck will work for an event that will serve 200 to 300 people. If the food truck is the main attraction at the event, however, the truck, may more easily become overwhelmed.

4. Do Your Research

Read up on the food trucks you’re considering before making a final selection. Look up reviews and ask for word of mouth opinions from people in your area. The last thing you want is an unreliable truck.

5. Study The Regulations

Every municipality has its own regulations regarding food trucks. Don’t rely on the truck vendor themselves to know the regulations; you need to make sure that you’re following the rules yourself.

Food trucks are excellent additions to any event. Just make sure that you’re booking it correctly before making your selection.
